Arrived in Philly just hours after a beer truck jackknifed across the highway, causing the city to come to a stop. I passed by the accident on the way into town. I could hear Homer and Peter Griffin crying in collective sorrow as I saw the truck laying on its side… its contents having slipped off into the vast beyond…
Philadelphia is a beautiful city. The architecture is out of control. I felt like I was driving around the movie, “Road to Perdition”. Checked in and went to the screening at a fun indy theater called the Ritz. The crowd was great, although many of the college students had been turned away as older people arrived earlier and took all the seats. Word to the youth of America – Be prompt.
Did another poster signing after the screening, then headed off to this small club where they were having a short film night. Unfortunately, I started fading fast and had to leave before the films began. What can I say, I’m a light weight.
Next morning, I did the local NBC affiliate’s morning show, “The 10”. After which, it was back to the hotel, into another meeting room, with another coffee display (see photo) where I did a dozen print interviews. Apparently, the sex scene got cut out of the Pittsburg screening. Something tells me I’ll be hearing about this for the rest of my life. My mouth is starting to hurt from talking so much. I’ve begun to hate the sound of my own voice.
Then, I lost my cap. FUCK! I loved that hat (see photo). My brown corduroy hat. Baseball cap wearers will surely understand my grief. When you find that perfect hat, that fits every inch of your head… It can make the whole world all right. This was that kind of hat. And now it’s gone, like the beer.
Now, I’m on a flight to Detroit. The film’s showing in Ann Arbor tonight. Hopefully, they have a Lids outlet in town.
